Packaging specialist Niverplast has turned to Thinkwise to gain digital momentum

Apeldoorn, 14 June 2018 – Low-code software developer Thinkwise is producing new ERP software for packaging specialist Niverplast. The new business software has been given the name Amber 2 and is already producing major benefits for the company. Among other things more efficient digital invoicing, limiting business risks, more insight into the logistics chain and time savings through automation.

Niverplast designs, develops and manufactures packaging machines and complete production lines that are deployed worldwide, for instance, in the food industry. In order to be able to continue to meet the needs of the market, Niverplast has had to modernize its old customized ERP system. Marleen Haarman, responsible for process optimization & IT at Niverplast: “We still processed our commercial operations and financial business processes with a DOS application from the 1980s. This system was so outdated that it was no longer supported. This was becoming an increasing business risk.”

Flexible

A Test Drive and a Technical Session provided by Thinkwise was enough to convince Niverplast that Thinkwise was the right partner for them. Haarman: “Thinkwise is very flexible and this suits us perfectly. And this is just what we need, because we often come up with new ideas. The low-code software development platform deals with this in a controlled and well-managed manner, so that progressive insight and new ideas can be easily and gradually introduced.”

Amber 2

The implementation of the first phase of the ERP system Amber 2 can already be regarded as a great success. For example, it has a positive impact on the commercial operations and financial business processes. “This concerns normal, everyday things,” Haarman explains. “For instance, we previously still sent invoices manually by post and that is now processed automatically and sent digitally by e-mail. Furthermore, the system is now integrated with the Exact accounting package.”

Gradual Re-engineering

Niverplast wants to gradually re-engineer and innovate their business processes. The second phase of building the new ERP system will soon start and Niverplast has once again commissioned Thinkwise to develop it. This concerns the project registration and the logistic processes during machine building. Haarman: “Among other things, we want to know which components have been ordered for the machines, whether they have arrived and where we have stored them. We will continue gradually in a business-case driven manner, each time adding new features. The entire ERP system will eventually be completely modernized within a few years, with the help of Thinkwise. This means that we will no longer have to worry about the business processes and that we can go full steam ahead.”
