IT Partner BV opts for the Thinkwise low-code software development platform

Apeldoorn, 2 May 2019 – IT Partner, an ISV specializing in automation software for the port logistics sector, has elected to make use of the Thinkwise low-code software development platform.  After a successful Proof of Value (PoV) and an e-learning training program, IT Partner is going to use the Thinkwise Platform to develop a Port Community System (PCS) application for the port of Saint Martin.

Opting for the Thinkwise low-code platform is a very strategic decision for an Independent Software Supplier (ISV) such as IT Partner BV. It was therefore essential to determine the added value in advance through a Proof of Value (PoV) project.

Before this project was started, two IT Partner employees received a 2-week introduction to low-code software development via the Learn & Support system of the Thinkwise Academy.

Proof of Value (PoV)

For the Proof of Value (PoV), under the supervision of Thinkwise, IT Partner modernized an outdated Freight Forwarding application, which supports the administrative handling of the sales and purchase of transport services. With this PoV, IT Partner examined whether the Thinkwise platform would successfully support their applications. The PoV was also used to judge the speed and user-friendliness of the Thinkwise Platform.

Rob Jordan, co-owner and director of IT Partner: “We were only two weeks into the PoV when we were already convinced of the power of the Thinkwise low-code platform. It is a very fast and easy way of setting up a software system, and it supports all the applications that we want to modernize.”

He continues: “We compared the required effort against the same case using traditional software development based on C#, Angular and other tools, which showed that we were able to achieve much faster results. This has an immediate impact on our costs and effectiveness. Another major advantage is that the user interface is unambiguous across all applications. An important consideration is our strategy to disconnect the functionality from the technical layer, which is now provided for by the platform”

Port Community System (PCS)

After the successful PoV, IT Partner started to develop a Port Community System (PCS) for the port of Saint Martin. The software is being developed by employees of IT Partner as a safe cloud solution with various web-based and app-based applications. At the same time, Thinkwise remains available for questions and support.

The contract between Port Saint Martin and IT Partner is focused on two years agile development. The first functional components of the software are expected to go live during the second half of 2019. Along with the port authorities, various other parties such as agencies, shipping companies, ministries and customs will also use the software.

Robert van der Linden, CEO of Thinkwise: “As a low-code software supplier, we are increasingly focusing on license sales via partners, and less on the development of projects for customers. We are happy that IT Partner is experiencing the benefits of developing software with our platform. They are now able to develop software for their customers a lot quicker and much more efficiently. We would like to engage more ISVs, like IT Partner, so that we can focus even more on the development of the Thinkwise Platform.”
